Stillwater Area Fun

One of Stillwater 's greatest charms is her scattering of fine restaurants. Several wine bars offer a selection of fermented grapes that is unequaled. The cuisine at many of our restaurants is unimpeachable, and the ambiance is relaxed, upbeat or elegant-take your pick! Dine inside near a fireplace or even in a cave, or sit on a deck overlooking the river and watch the parade of boats pass by.

Local attractions:

Stillwater has something for everyone. Whether you are looking for art, music, literature, antiques, bicycle trails, hiking, watersports, or history, you will find it all here.

Perhaps the most popular attraction of all is the scenic St. Croix River.  You can take in all the beauty with an excursion on one the the "Andiamo" paddle wheel boats.  A truly remarkable ride, and it includes a meal served as you glide along the maple tree-line banks and limestone cliffs.  A throwback to Stillwater's historic beginnings as a riverboat landing and logging/milling town.

Stillwater has numerous excellent bookstores, including, Valley Bookseller, and Loome Booksellers which has a collection of over 100,000 children’s books, cookery, literature, history, music, philosophy, biblical studies and much, much more.

We are a town rich in history. Visit our Historic Courthouse or the Warden's House Museum.

Outdoor activities abound in town as well as in the surrounding area. Rent a boat to enjoy a day on the river, or bring your own. Stillwater is also just 20 minutes north and south from two state parks with wonderful hiking, and the Gateway Trail is a paved bicycle trail located 7 miles west of town. Cross-country and downhill skiing is also within 20 minutes of Stillwater. Fall means apple-picking season, and Aamodt's Apple Orchard not only has terrific apples, they also have an on-site winery and wine shop, as well as hay rides, fresh-baked apple pie and other treats, grape stomping, and more!

Looking for some pampering? Our day spas are just the ticket! They include Just For Me and Spa at River Valley, and more.

Perhaps you are looking for antique lighting--Let There Be Light repairs and sells unique and stunning period lighting.
