For those unfamiliar with the B&B experience, there is a journal in each room, wherein we encourage guests to share their thoughts and feelings about their stay or anything at all! Most messages are written to the innkeeper, but sometimes they are written to other guests who will come after them as a way of reaching out and connecting.
We thought you might enjoy some of our guest feedback :

We’re celebrating our second anniversary here at the James Mulvey Inn. Last year we stayed in the Sophia room, this year in the Miranda. We loved the balcony, sitting out there with coffee, reading and playing cribbage. Stillwater is such a great town to get away to. If you have time, get some ice cream at Nelson’s (on Greeley St.), take a gondola ride on the St. Croix, and enjoy some fine dining at the Dock Café. Also, the Supreme Bean has great coffee and the Chicago Dog place next door is great too! We plan to keep coming back over and over, Lord willing. Matthew & Lydia

We had an awesome time. It was one of my best birthdays. Thank you for the beautiful room and the scrumptious breakfast. We loved the town and Marx was an excellent recommendation. We wish you well and hope to return and repeat this experience.

My daughter and I came for a mother-daughter getaway. She graduated from high school on 5/24/09. So, we decided it would be fun to try out B&B’s, we discovered Stillwater on the Internet. It’s fun and a lot different then staying at a hotel. We loved the décor and the lights at night. Ate at the Dock Café and have booked a dinner cruise on the Ferry Boat. I love the antique pictures and furnishings, it’s very quiet and fun.

Our children blessed us for our 30th Wedding Anniversary with a night out in Stillwater. We loved the Walter room, which was enhanced by goodies from our children ~ CD, flowers, and champagne plus two letters they wrote; prior to that we had a romantic gondola ride then dinner at the Dock Café. Thank you for the delicious breakfast made by two delightful interns. We know they will have a great future in the hospitality industry. Hopefully we’ll be back before 30 years.

Perfect birthday present! After a grueling long week, coming here for a relaxing night was absolutely wonderful. Even though it was raining, dinner at the Dock Café with a view of the river and bridge was great. Then coming back to a relaxing bubble bath topped the whole evening.

My sister and I stayed in your room and loved it! The bed was so soft and clean and the room was a nice comfortable temperature. One of the things we remember whenever we stay places is ‘did we sleep good?’ and the answer to that question this time is ‘YES!’ We slept wonderfully. So, thank you for a nice night’s sleep and a wonderful place to stay in this lovely town of Stillwater. We enjoyed it thoroughly. We will be back for sure. Thanks again.

Our stay here at the B&B was a surprise birthday gift from my boyfriend. Neither of us has ever stayed at a B&B before! The bed was SO comfortable. I’ve gotten more restful sleep here the past two nights then I have in months. It’s comforting to come back to the cozy room and snuggling after exploring all day. The hot tub was a perfect end to the day. The breakfasts were fabulous. For other food suggestions, the malts at Leo’s are wonderful and the burgers at the Freight House are great! This was truly a relaxing and much needed get away from the city! I’m already dropping hints to come back again soon!

A very nice getaway from the everyday commitments; loved the old home and its fine character. Edna’s room is fresh and comfortable. Like the quilts on the beds. Enjoyed breakfast on the screen porch and we got in a casual yet semi-competitive round of cribbage.

Brenda and I would like to thank you from the bottom of our hearts for the absolutely wonderful experience you provided for us and our families during our Wedding and stay this past October 4th weekend. You and your sister (and her niece) went well above and beyond anyone's expectations. Just listing out all of your efforts from the top of our heads results in an impressive list:
- You guided Brenda through the preparations for the ceremony and stay making her feel prepared and at ease.
- Decorated the setting for our wedding ceremony beautifully.
- Assisted in the ceremony itself as musical director.
- At last moment, made a matching corsage for the Bride's Father. So impressive!
- Decorated the cake, cut the cake and served our guests to perfection.
All of that was just for the 30 minute ceremony. As Innkeeper, you provided so much more. The Inn was clean and comfortable. The breakfast for the nine of us who stayed at the Inn was refreshingly unique, delicious, tastefully prepared and presented. We were made to feel "at home". The insight and information you brought to us and our guests about the history of the home was wonderful. You were a part of our special day, our weekend and we both feel very strongly that without your care, attention, skill and expertise in so many areas, our wedding and our time spent at the Inn would have not even come close to as wonderful as it was.
Thank you for everything you did and especially for who you are.

Amazing! I was stunned to realize that you have only been in charge of this inn for a week but have everything under control! You were so helpful, friendly and thoughtful that this made a special occasion for my sister's 90th birthday even more special! I wish you every success.

What a wonderful and relaxing time we had over the past couple of days! This was an absolute treat for us, an opportunity to interrupt our busy lives and reconnect with each other. You are a wonderful hostess, full of warmth and energy! And of course, a fantastic cook. Without a doubt, your B&B will be a grand success!

Happy New Year from one KMS graduate to another. As always, your ability to be a great hostess exceeded expectations.

What a wonderful place to spend my 30th birthday. Instead of a big, overrated party my husband surprised me with our first trip to a bed and breakfast-we both weren't sure what to expect, but what a great experience! The house is so charming, the room so romantic especially with the jacuzzi tub and fireplace. Breakfasts were unbelievable! Raspberry and white chocolate pancakes-what a treat! Cynthia did a wonderful job making us feel welcome and at home. The fresh flowers were such a great touch. Thank you Cynthia.

What a wonderful experience this was for us. We can forget about how important time alone is when our days are full of work, kids, school, bills, and the hustle and bustle of day-to-day life. Thank you for everything. Your bed and breakfast is exactly what we needed in order to fall in love with each other all over again!!!

We had a wonderful, relaxing time. The breakfasts: WOW! The quiet time sitting on the patio for morning meditations was special... a far cry from NYC hustle and bustle. You area great hostess. I pray blessings on your home.
